Well, apparently I can't be a Christian if I believe in evolution. I guess I'm no longer a Christian, according to that logic.

I know Catholics support "intelligent design" meaning that we evolved from primates, but God still had a hand in it

Actually, Intelligent Design is more "We're creationists, but we accept the premise that it might have been someone other than God who did it." I.e., it's an attempt to make the Creationist argument without invoking religion. Which is a little silly, because it leaves open the question of who created the Intelligent Designer--basically, it's turtles all the way down until you hit God again, if you buy into Intelligent Design. Catholicism's stance, as I understand it, is more like "We believe in evolution, but there's nothing in evolutionary theory that says God couldn't guide things, because He's awesome that way ( ... )

Interesting. In my experience, usually when Catholics disagree with the Official Church Position, it's in the more-progressive direction (E.g., yay homosexuality, yay birth control) rather than the more-conservative direction.

I just wish people would be clear that creationism and intelligent design are religious or philosophical *beliefs* and NOT SCIENCE!!!
