I think I saw this book before! It was my friend who showed to me, but I only got a few minutes to quickly flip through it before class started. ^^; It was the last picture of the third row that I saw. I liked how the flowers and the posing of the arms and hands seem to cage him (?) inside. Like you said, she makes a beautiful and safe world for us. Also the wings are carefully and beautifully done.
She has a talent with watercolors. Watercolors are really not forgiving...
Looking at Yuchi, I can see the dark tale. The conclusion looks very somber. I like when the pictures without text lets you make the story and draw a conclusion/interpretation on your own.
Nationality sounds like a great section. *_*
I feel traditional have something that CG doesn't quite have, particularly when you see the artwork in real time.
Sorry, I think I could go on and on, rambling away...^^; I'll stop here.
Like many artist that I like, currently, she's experimenting with CG too. You see them on her blog, it's not bad because you still see her signature styles of a fantasy like world, but when you compare it to watercolors, it's a bit lacking in depth.
I went to her blog a few times thanks to the link you posted ^-^
Yes, I notice she's working with CG now. I hope she doesn't completely give up on watercolors. Although her CG isn't bad, I think it's thanks to her talent with watercolors. But I notice her characters have gotten this charming simplify look to them and more stylized, instead of this delicate look now. Not sure how to explain it and I'm just going by the very few pictures that she posted on her blog. But I'm glad she's experimenting. I do like variety. ^-^
Just hope to see more watercolors in the future. ^^
I also have the artbook. Appearantly there are various pencilboard extras, mine had a diffrent illustration. Through, despite technically being certainly very good, I don't really come to like her style. Especially the one with many red, yellow, orange colorings. They look good, but sort of... to exotic to my taste.
