I just keep my eye on Jan 3rd, when it's pretty much over.

This is a very depressing year for me; my first Christmas where I won't have the kids. The last two years, my husband didn't care one way or another so I always got to do Christmas with them. This year, his parents insist on having the girls. They don't seem to see that the girls are my only family (here) and it would be the "christian" thing to do to let me spend the day with them.

I'm trying not to show any of my emotion; I feel such a reponsibility towards the girls that this period go smoothly. It all becomes part of their memories and I really want them to have good ones of the holidays. So I'm taking them up to Amsterdam next week for a week right before I hand them over. At least I have that to look forward to.

That sucks! So sorry about Christmas day. I hope you have fun in Amsterdam.

What are you going to do on The Day Itself? Do you have a boyfriend who wants to woo you?

I could call The Basque (he doesn't get along with his parents so he probably is in town) but I don't think I will. We have little to talk about outside the bedroom and I don't want to be cooking Christmas lunch for some guy with whom I have that skimpy of a connection.

Haha! I know what you mean! That would probably be worse.

It's a love hate sort of thing for me right now. Getting to watch my son open gifts for the first time, will be tremendous. The rest of it, I could do without.
