Doing those things is simply a mistake that she is going through. If you consider her a good friend, she is a good person. Trust your own judgment.

My parents are alcoholics and addicts. Most of my friends are. My step parents are recovering. Alot of my friends have ODed and they're gone. And you know what, I have the gene that would make me an alcoholic and an addict should I ever try it. These people I know are the most loving, caring people in the world. I love them all. Sometimes, they're better people because of their experiences. Drugs don't make you a bad person. Alcohol doesnt make you a bad person. Sometimes, it's bad decisions, bad experiences, bad lives but amazing people. Please understand from someone in Ala-teen, people are amazing. Drugs aren't. Even when they do things to the person's personality, the people are jsut incdredible. It takes over their mind, their body, their bieng. People underestimate all the stuff drugs and alcohol can do to you. Please, for your sake and your friend's sake and your family's sake, don't ever do drugs and don't do drugs.

Hey Addie,
I used to think about that freshman year, too. But people are so multi-dimensional, there's no GOOD or BAD anyway.

But drinking or smoking once in a while by no means makes someone a bad person. You may choose not to spend time with your friends while they're doing things that make you uncomfortable, but it's just a very small part of who they are.

There's nothing innately bad about having a beer. Unless she's driving a car, she's pretty unlikely to hurt anyone else. What is sad is when people's weekends start revolving around whether or not they can get alcohol.

Also, generally speaking, this girl is drunk a very small percentage of the time. She might drink on weekends, but if you're having a nice conversation with her at school -- who cares? You can like her for the interactions that you're having with her.

And, oh yeah... most people exaggerate.

-Nina.
