So, I finally went and got school supplies last night. Here's what I do not understand: why do we have to buy tissues and paper towels and ziplock bags ???!!! WHY??!! What's next? Will parents be supplying the toilet paper and hand soap next year??

Seriously.

grr.

ITA!
FYI, I have bought handsoap for the classrooms four years running now. This year I also had to buy non-latex gloves for the science lab, paper towels, tissues, two calculators, computer disks, about fifty different notebooks, folders, and binders, three kinds of paper, four kids of pens, book covers, three five packs of dividers, and of course every kind of art supply known to student kind, for starters. Then we got the classroom lists. Argh!

last year we had to buy things like 6 glue sticks and construction paper for the whole class to use. the teacher told me later it was because some of the kids's families couldn't afford all the supplies - yeah, like us!

You supply them because the schools don't have the budget for them anymore. Seriously.

As for the supplies that were not specifically for just C: I had to buy six large gluesticks, two large waterless hand sanitizers, two boxes of kleenex, and two boxes of ziplock freezer bags.

In addition to all the "regular" stuff, last year I had to buy two packs of dry erase markers and a stapler!

I understand that the schools are on a limited budget but I don't understand why I have to pay a school fee AND buy these random classroom supplies. It seems like they could incorporate them all into one.
