I know what you're saying, but I still like watching "Scrooged" when they run it in November.

It's not just the commercial ones. Some person in Suitland this morning almost burned the house down because the christmas tree was too close to the fireplace.

Christmas tree. In mid november. WAIT FOR THE THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE BEFORE YOU DO THAT!!!!

my theory on this is simple. money.

each year, marketers and retailers are not merely satisfied to do "as well as last year," they want to do better. always more more more. when your big holiday sales push is three weeks long and you make X dollars, the reasoning is if you have a six-week sales blitz (aka, total and obnoxiously early saturation) you'll make 2X dollars. and what if you run ads for 9 weeks? i mean, if they started with Christmas In July and just kept going, just IMAGINE the holiday revenue!!! (it's coming; mark my words!) :P ( ... )

capitalism at its most obscene ...

Sears Hardware was putting up their plastic Christmas trees and lights for sale 2 DAYS BEFORE HALLOWEEN ...

I miss the old days of my childhood, when the first inklings of the Christmas season weren't even mentioned until after Thanksgiving ...
