Seattle Bound

Sep 23, 2005 10:27

The Breast Cancer 3-Day just announced its 2006 schedule, and there will be a walk in Seattle! (I've been keeping my fingers crossed since I called the coaches earlier this year; they weren't sure they were going to have another Seattle walk.) I've already registered to walk, and sent the info on to my sisters, one of whom has promised to crew ( Read more... )

Cheerleaders are always welcome! ;-)

Seriously, if you are there then, I'll give you a call and let you know what's going on.

I'm surprised you didn't hear the scream of joy when I got the email!

One sister is going to crew; I can't see the other one walking or crewing, but I know she'll come out and cheer. (And she may surprise me yet!)

One of my sister's best friends has said she'll walk with me, though. She's like an adopted sister, so that will be fabulous.

Sounds great! (just remember to make sure you have clothing that is good for walking in the rain, please! Just the thought of the last time I did a bunch of walking in the rain for a Relay for Life (no I don't know why I couldn't at least have remembered an umbrella) causes my brain to say "ouch" again)

Seattle should be a beautiful place for a 3-day!

I'm kind of laughing at this (not at you), because out of the five long-distance walks I've walked or crewed, exactly ZERO has been completely dry. I'm very used to walking and camping in the rain, believe me! I can't stand carrying an umbrella, but LLBean's Gore-Tex is worth its weight in gold. I figure Seattle can't be any wetter than the 3-Day I did in 2004, in the middle of Hurricanes Bonnie and Charley, or the Avon walk this year. I just need to carry lots of dry socks with me!

Hmm... maybe that means it'll be *dry* for a change out there for the walk? :-)

Hmm. Good question! I've been to the Pacific Northwest four times, and every time has been bone dry. Put that good mojo up against my bad walk mojo -- I wonder which one is going to win???

Oh, I do love it. The whole Pacific Northwest is just so gorgeous. It's no wonder both of my sisters, Pennsylvania born and bred, have chosen to live there. Plans are in the works to spend the week after the walk on the Oregon Coast -- that will be my third time there, and I could live there in a heartbeat. I just need to win that danged lottery first!
