Anyhoo! It does look like it'd be a bit too big for you...I know you're good with sewing, don't you think you could fix it? Like take it in a little?
And I totally know what you mean. When I used to go on cosplay websites, I'd look at the costumes people have or ones that their selling and be like "That isn't the right color though..." or "That fabric isn't supposed to be shiny!" or I'd notice that one little detail was missing, or that it wouldn't be shaped right.... For instance, this one person was cosplaying as Sailor Uranus, and they didn't shape the front of the boot right, and they forgot the little stars that are supposed to go in front.
