Well... maybe it was just that I don't like imposing, and it felt like each appointment at someone's house to give a knife demonstration was a huge imposition where I was pressuring them to buy something super-expensive that they didn't want. Some people are really good at selling things by-appointment. But I personally hated it. And you have to buy a set of knives to demonstrate with - and though it is a good deal on all those knives, it will cost you at least $150.
It might be different in Philadelphia though - I just had a really seedy experience with it here.
