So forgot to say except for Blue, all other characters belong to

Blue sat by Lon’s bed in the hospital ward, waiting for her to wake up, prepared if she didn’t. “Lon, you idiot, there’s always got to be two of us. You can’t trust the others to look out properly.” Blue thought to herself. There were so few of them working these nights and the beasts many. She looked at Lon, at the bruising across her face. Part of her hoped that she wouldn’t wake up. Not even the best cosmetician would be able to cover the damage It had done to Lon.
“I can only keep you here another night. You hear me? But, it’s going to be okay. We’re leaving, Sweetie. Get out like Jin did. Just hang on for me okay.” Blue whispered.
When she, Lon and Jin grew up and learnt that the world saw only where they came from and not who they were; well, it was easier to believe you’d get out. Believe that if you worked it just right you could earn enough to get out and reinvent yourself. Find a new life that didn’t involve synthetic wigs, garish dresses and six inch stilettos.
She remembered being a child, when Deacon Fletcher was alive, how the Mission had always been a haven. Because even then, people knew that in this part of town, the beasts and demons existed. Not as some shadowy half-imagined dream, but flesh and blood. The Deacon and his strange handy-man were good people, who could be trusted not to judge first, but offered help. Deacon Jim understood this, but it seemed to her that his boss’ didn’t. It was the one thing the Church and the Beasts agreed upon, each wanted control.
She wasn’t around when Father Christopher fell, literally or metaphorically, depending upon who was telling the story. It did force her hand, make her put into action. Afterall, if Jin could leave this life, she could and she’d take Lon also, whether she wished it or not.
“I’ve got everything sorted. Bag, bus tickets, money and somewhere to stay, you’ll like it Lon. Sleep now. I’ll come and get you tomorrow.” She leant over the bed and kissed Lon’s forehead.
It was raining heavily and people were in a hurry, but she paid them no heed. It was a good night, as far as she was concerned. The pedestrian crossing light flashed ‘Walk’ and she stepped out from the curve.
The falcon circled above the crowd gather below, there was woman lying in the middle of the road surrounded by ambulance personnel. A policeman spoke to a distraught man by a taxi and the rain kept falling.
A figure stepped out of the shadows and the bird flew down to land on his lifted arm. “Poor Blue, I guess that leaves only Red, Yellow and Green. Maybe we should refer to them as The Traffic Lights?” The bird screeched, “Hush, Ayun, you are right. Nobody leaves without my knowing.” Man and bird walked away from the crowd, back into the shadows.
