I honestly do believe that nothing we do to "combat CO2 emissions" matters if we continue growing as a population. No point in reducing emissions back to 1990 levels, 350ppm, or ??? if the population continues to grow unchecked.

Too true. Which is one of the reasons I'm not totally anti-China these days. Yeah, they were being difficult at Copenhagen...and having a lot of unproductive, childish, "you did it, so now it is our turn" rants. However they did make one pretty good point, which they are a decent example of.
Of course, I think it would be easier (for me and for others) to applaud them on this keen insight if it didn't have the nastiness of female genocide splattered all over it.
