6 A/N: Baby Minnie is finally back! I've had this planned for a long time, but never got around to it. Enjoy!
“You can’t be serious, Mi. Sungmin is a boy. There is entirely too much pink.” Kyuhyun groans, shaking his head when Mimi shows him the gift he wants to get for their son’s birthday. “Don’t they have it in a different color? You know, without all of that glitter?”
“Don’t be silly, Kui Xian. You know that pink is his favorite color, and this is perfect for him.” Mi shakes his head, picking up one of the tickets next to the item to take to the service desk. “You know that he’s going to love it, so stop your complaining.”
“But look at it. It says princess on the tag.” Kyuhyun whines, squinting to read the tag that his husband had picked up. “I just want you to know that I am not okay with this.”
“You can’t tell me that you think he won’t love it. Besides, you know that I’m going to get my way with this one and you’re going to get your way when I take you to bed tonight.”
Zhou Mi is right. He really can’t argue with that logic.

“I don’t know why we didn’t just pay the guy to put it together for us.” Kyuhyun complains once again, struggling with the hammer and a particularly stubborn piece of wood.
“I thought it would be fun. And we’re almost done.” Mi replies, not having near as much trouble as his younger counterpart. “All that’s left is dressing it once you get that part done.”
By the time they have everything in place, Kyuhyun was exhausted. But of course, Mi couldn’t let him have his rest. We have too much to do before the party. You can rest later.
Maybe it’s not so bad. Especially when putting up streamers and balloons and setting out the other various presents they had accumulated leads to a hot, relaxing shower with his husband. Though he’s sure that all of the showers and soothing massages in the world can’t repair his pride when Mimi tries to shove a pair of pink rabbit ears on top of his already fluffy hair.
“I’ve let you have your way this entire time. I am not putting those on, and that’s final.” Kyuhyun has half a mind to stomp his foot, but he’s sure that his arms crossed over his chest are enough of a gesture.
“You are no fun, Kui Xian. Minnie loves bunnies, and I’m sure he’ll love seeing them on you. See? I’m wearing a pair too.” Mi points to the pair of pink, fluffy rabbit ears perched on top of his flame red hair. Kyuhyun knows that if he tells him the colors clash he’ll end up sleeping in the living room, so he keeps his mouth shut and shakes his head once more.
“There are enough rabbits all over our house, Mimi. I’m sure he’ll get his fill.” Kyuhyun replies as he stalks off to the living room to make sure everything is set up for the party. At least that’s what he plans to tell Mi if he asks.
But he doesn’t have a chance to tell that little white lie. The doorbell rings, signaling the arrival of Han Geng, Heechul, Siwon, and more importantly, his Minnie.
“APPA!” Sungmin squeals, flinging himself into Kyuhyun’s outstretched arms and nuzzling his cold nose into his neck. “Minnie missed appa.”
“Appa missed you too, Minnie. Did you have a nice time?” Kyuhyun asks as he stands up, Minnie secure in his arms.
“Minnie and Wonnie go see fishies!” Min replies excitedly, squirming and wiggling excitedly in Kyuhyun’s arms. Apparently he’s been taking lessons from a certain flailing Chinese man. “BABA! MINNIE HOME!”
Kyuhyun doesn’t have a chance to cover his ears and cringes when his son screams right next to his ear. But he supposes it’s alright when he sees how bright the smiles on both of their faces are.
“There’s my little pumpkin.” Mi coos sweetly, scooping the flailing child from Kyuhyun’s arms and nuzzling his nose against the small cold one belonging to his son.
“Baba bunny!” If Kyuhyun thought the toddler was loud before, he was wrong. He was sure that he had never heard a louder or happier sound come out of that baby’s mouth.
“Baba has something special for Minnie too.” Mimi can’t help but giggle as Sungmin reaches up to touch the fluffy ears on his head. “Come on in, you three. Everyone else should be here soon. I’ll go get Minnie changed and Kui Xian can show you where to hang up your coats.”
There’s some sort of grumbling between his husband and their diva guest, but Mi doesn’t pay attention to it as he sweeps Sungmin into their master bedroom to remove Sungmin’s clothes.
“It’s time for a bath now, Minnie.” His Chinese father tells him when he’s gotten him down to his pink underwear. Sungmin, however, has a different idea. Watching him climb off their bed and run into the living room in a fit of giggles shocks Mi a little. But a startled yelp from his husband is enough to pull him out of his stupor and send him scrambling into the living room. “Sungmin! Come back here!”
“Wonnie bath with Minnie!” Sungmin is still letting out shrill laughter as his little hands try to grab at Siwon from his place in Kyuhyun’s arms. “Appa! Wonnie go with Minnie!”
“No, Minnie. Siwon already had his bath today, so you need to be a good boy and go with Baba.” Kyuhyun protests, handing him back over to his husband. Having them in a bath together was the last thing that Kyuhyun wanted. “You can play with him when you’re done.”
Sungmin is still whining and wiggling when Zhou Mi wrestles him into the tub and washes his hair, but manages to settle down when he has a plethora of rubber duckies poured in front of him. Getting him out of the tub is another struggle, but the promise of playing with Siwon has him behaving when he’s placed on the counter while Mi pulls out the hair dryer and sets to work. The giggles from the warm air are just an added bonus.
Kyuhyun is a little alarmed when he hears his baby screaming from their bedroom and trips over himself trying to get in there as fast as possible. But by the time he gets there, he sees Sungmin having a hard time keeping still while Mi draws a nose and whiskers on his little face.
“Minnie bunny!” Sungmin squeals when he sees his father, and throws his arms out toward him. Mi is just happy he finished before his flailing started.
Kyuhyun doesn’t want to admit it, but seeing Sungmin zipped up in the footie pajamas with rabbit ears is probably the cutest thing he’s ever seen; even if it is all pink. If Sungmin likes it, does anything else matter?
Kyuhyun puts his ears back on.
Sungmin wiggles around in his arms and giggles as he bounced around and assaulted with kisses, but the moment that he’s put on the floor, he runs as fast as his little feet will carry him to the living room.
“Wonnie! Minnie a bunny!” As if to prove his words, Sungmin lets go of the slightly startled looking boy and starts hopping around in a small circle. Kyuhyun is surprised he doesn’t topple over. “Appa! Wonnie bunny too! Give ears to Wonnie!”
“We don’t have any more, Minnie.” Kyuhyun replies, feeling a tinge of guilt when Sungmin’s face falls at that information. Luckily, Mi was thinking ahead and comes out with a child-sized pair of white bunny ears. Sungmin immediately grabs them with a gleeful squeal and all but shoves them on top of Siwon’s head.
“I got them instead of birthday hats.” He informs his partner with a smile when he gets a look of disbelief. “I figured if we were going to have a bunny birthday party for him, we should go all out.”
“Is it Minnie’s birthday?” Siwon asks, eyes wide and trained on his own parents. Nobody told him that! What was he going to do about a present? He always got really nice things when it was his birthday, so Minnie should too.
As if he can read his son’s mind, Geng leans down and straightens the ears on his head before smiling and informing him that he and Heechul had already got something he could give the younger boy. Well that made him feel better!
“Birf-day?” Sungmin doesn’t understand. He looks up at both of his parents for an answer and Kyuhyun is glad he can’t see the way his heart breaks a little for his child. But more than that, there’s determination that Sungmin will always remember how special he is on this day each year.
“It’s your birthday, Minnie. That means that you’re three today and we’re going to have a party just for you.” Kyuhyun explains in the best way he can think of, brow furrowing as he thinks. “Your friends are coming over and we’re all going to play games and eat cake. Then you get to open all of your presents.”
“Minnie gets pwesents?” Kyuhyun smiles at the way Sungmin’s eyes sparkle. “Like criss-miss?”
“Just like Christmas, Minnie. But this is a day just for you, baobei.” Mi interjects, crouching down next to Kyuhyun to clip Min’s hair out of his eyes with a familiar pink barrette.
“But Minnie wanna give Wonnie pwesents!” Sungmin pouts, trying to cross his arms over his chest the way he’s seen Kyuhyun do before.
“It’s not my birthday, Minnie.” Siwon assures him, smiling happily at the younger child. “I get presents on my birthday, and you get presents on yours.”
Sungmin doesn’t seem to understand, but Siwon’s explanation seems to satisfy him enough for him to forget about it. Kyuhyun may be a little jealous.
Though he is happy that the arrival of everyone from daycare seems to make Sungmin even happier than he was before. He supposes it has something to with the fact that he gets an opportunity to shove rabbit ears on about a dozen heads. Even Heechul doesn’t seem that irritated when Sungmin pushes a pair of pink ears on top of his head, but that’s probably because Geng has a matching pair and a hand on his thigh.
It’s only a matter of time before Kyuhyun gets tired of the throng of children running all over their apartment and instructs Donghae and Hyukjae to corral them before his head splits open. They are more than happy to comply, and Kyuhyun does his best to ignore the remarks about how grumpy he is. They probably get along with the children so well because they behave like five year olds most of the time (when they aren’t all over each other in the closet during nap time).
Pin the tail on the rabbit, hide and seek, and Simon says keeps them busy, and assures Kyuhyun that Sungmin was enough on his own. Like hell he wanted to take care of an entire group of kids the way Donghae and Hyukjae did. Besides, no child could ever be as perfect as his Minnie. It also gives Mimi enough time to set up places for everyone to sit in the dining room.
“Minnie! It’s time for cake, little pumpkin.” Mi coos sweetly, crouching down and holding out his arms for Sungmin. Sungmin perks up and turns to look at his father, smile as bright as the sun. Mimi soon finds himself with an armful of not only Min, but also Siwon and he can’t help the way laughter spills from his lips. “I guess you get to sit next to Minnie, Siwon.”
Kyuhyun doesn’t approve, but keeps his mouth shut when he receives a swift kick to his rear end courtesy of a leggy Chinese man.
Leeteuk does a great job of situating all of the children and getting them to (for the most part) stay still in their seats. That is, until a raucous round of children screaming out their version of ‘Happy Birthday’ starts. Kyuhyun rubs his temples and Mi squeezes his waist and buries his face in Kyuhyun’s shoulder to muffle some of his body shaking laughter. It’s like you were never a child, Kui Xian.
Sungmin gets more cake on his face than he does in his mouth, even with Siwon feeding him. Kyuhyun huffs and Mi swears he hears something like ‘I could do it better.’ His jealousy is kind of adorable.
Wet wipes and eight adults clear away what the children manage to get all over themselves. Kyuhyun is only a little surprised when all of the children file into the living room after Yongwoon instructs them to and completely ignores the way Jungsu swoons over the authoritative tone he uses. It’s a little sickening, if he’s honest.
“Alright Minnie, it’s time to open your presents.” Zhou Mi looks almost as excited as his pink bunny of a child who chooses to hop over to the pile of gifts rather than simply walking.
“Open this one!” Ryeowook instructs as he runs over with a lumpy, messily wrapped gift in one hand and a squishy-faced toddler in the other. “Me and Henli picked it!”
Sungmin looks up from his perch on Kyuhyun’s lap and holds out his hands for the package when it’s handed to him. For a moment, Sungmin looks like he doesn’t know what to do with it. His face is screwed up in concentration before Henry decides to reach out and grab at part of the paper that’s sticking out; effectively tearing a chunk of it off.
“Henli! That’s for Minnie!” Ryeowook looks scandalized as he pulls his struggling brother back far enough that he can’t reach Sungmin’s gift. “He’s ‘posta do it, not you.”
Opening presents goes off without a hitch after that. Apparently Henry pulling at the paper was enough for Sungmin to figure out what he needed to do with the rest of them. There are gifts ranging from Play-doh and stuffed animal to books and puzzles and Sungmin looks happier with each tearing sound.
“Make sure you tell everyone thank you, Minnie.” Mi tells him, a soft hand on his back urging him to the crowd of people gathered around them.
Everyone gets a hug, and a select few even get kisses. Sungmin’s habit of kissing people that he likes hasn’t gotten any better. If anything, he’s started doing it more and more. Kyuhyun knows that he should find it cute, but he still harbors a little jealousy and can’t fight the protective streak he’s developed in the time that they’ve had Sungmin with them.
It’s a struggle for Sungmin to climb up on the couch where Heechul is sitting, but Han Geng gets the message and scoops the small boy up before placing him on his own lap with a smile.
“Kam sah me dah, gege!” Sungmin giggles, little hands pressed against Geng’s cheeks before he leans in and gives him a nice sloppy kiss right on the lips. Geng laughs and Heechul looks irritated.
“Watch out, Chullie. You might have some competition.” Leeteuk teases, making sure he’s far enough away from Heechul to avoid any repercussions.
“Chullie pretty.” Min coos, wiggling away from the Chinese man and ambling onto Heechul’s lap instead. Before he knows it, Heechul is receiving his own slobbery kiss. “Like Cindah-ella!”
Heechul can’t bring himself to scowl at a face like that.
It isn’t until Donghae and Hyukjae tell their brood that they need to get home that things start to wind down. Jungsu and Yongwoon along with their boys are the next to leave, all smiles and goodbyes as they are handed their gift bags. It’s when Heechul and Han Geng try to take Siwon home that a problem arises.
“No Appa! Wonnie stay Minnie!” Sungmin shouts, doing a great impression of Mi and clinging to the boy like an octopus.
“You have to ask Heechul and Geng-ge if that’s alright, Minnie. Appa and Baba still have a present for you.” Mi says, biting his lip to keep from laughing so he looks more serious.
“Wonnie stay with Minnie, Chullie?” Sungmin asks with the biggest eyes and most hopeful expression he can manage directed right at the man in question. “Pweese?”
Heechul sighs and rubs his temples, looking exactly the same as Kyuhyun did a few hours ago. He’s starting to understand why the brat can’t ever deny that kid anything. No child should know how to get exactly what they want at such a young age.
“Alright. We’ll go get his bag from home and bring it back.” Heechul sighs, crouching down to look at Sungmin directly and fix the hood of his pajamas. “You’re lucky you’re so cute, kid.”
Siwon’s fathers find their own way out, and Mi refocuses his attention on his baby.
“Alright, baobei. Go look in your room.”
Sungmin doesn’t wait for either of his parents and instead drags Siwon along with him. The sight that greets him has the young boy screaming in delight. Where his simple futon was before now sat a real bed. But it wasn’t just a normal bed. It was the most amazing bed he had ever seen!
The bed itself was a simple twin, but it was covered in all pink sheets with a matching comforter and had all sorts of pillows scattered on top. Everything was various shades of pink with both glitter and white accents. Though the best part was the frame above it that created a loft and had pink satin draped over the edges and sides to form a canopy. It even had a slide coming down from the top!
“Like princess!” Min squeals, pulling roughly on Siwon’s arm as he throws himself onto the bed and takes the older boy with him. Whatever a birthday is, Sungmin’s happy it’s happening to him. “Minnie princess and Wonnie prince!”
Siwon doesn’t know what’s going on, but Sungmin looks so happy that he finds himself smiling and laughing along with him. Playing prince and princess would probably be a lot of fun. Everything was fun when he was with Minnie.
“Happy Birthday, Minnie.” Kyuhyun says with a smile, relaxing into Mi’s embrace when he feels that bony arm slipping around his waist. Maybe all that pink isn’t so bad. “Oh. Stay here and Appa will get you your last present.”
Mi raises an eyebrow and turns to look at Kyuhyun directly. They didn’t have any more presents for Sungmin. He remembered wrapping them all and giving them to Min.
“Kui Xian, what are you-”
“Just stay here. I got him something else.” Kyuhyun says with a sly smile, disentangling himself from Mi’s hold. He slips out of the room and down the hall, returning after a couple minutes with a small box with a bow on it. “Come over here, little pumpkin.”
Sungmin pokes his head up from the pile of pillows and looks over at him. There’s more than his amazing princess bed? Appa and Baba must really love him!
Of course, he pulls Siwon along with him and plops down in front of the box. Sungmin stares at it a moment before looking up at Kyuhyun.
“Just take the top off, Minnie.” Kyuhyun smiles down at him, slipping his arm around his husband and giving that thin waist a squeeze.
“Kay Appa.” Sungmin smiles brightly up at him and looks back at the box before pulling the box lid off quickly.
Zhou Mi gasps.
Kyuhyun laughs.
Siwon smiles.
Sungmin screams.
“Kitty! Wonnie! There a kitty in here!” Sungmin squeals yet again, little hands reaching out for the small kitten inside the box.
“You have to be gentle Minnie. You can hurt the kitty if you’re too rough.” Kyuhyun instructs, reaching his hand out to guide his son’s. “Good boy. You have to be nice to Sen.”
“I can’t believe you got him a kitten. I’ve been trying to get you to agree to a puppy for years.” Mi says, shaking his head at how tightly he’s wrapped around that baby’s finger.
“A cat is lower maintenance. I figured it was a good middle ground. Just look how happy he is.” Kyuhyun defends, turning his head in an effort to hide the color creeping into his cheeks.
“Whatever you say, Kui Xian. You’re so cute when you fuss over him.”
“I’m not fussing. I’m-” Kyuhyun’s speech is interrupted by a giggling Sungmin climbing into his lap with a squirming kitten.
“Pet kitty, Baba! Appa pet kitty too! Wonnie, come with Minnie!”
Even after all of that cleaning and having to deal with a gaggle of kids running around the house, Kyuhyun knows that it was worth it. Sungmin curled up in his new bed all squished up next to Siwon is proof of that. The smile on Mi’s face when they finally collapse into bed together has him smiling in response.
“We’re going to have to buy him a castle next year if we want to top this one.” Zhou Mi chuckles sleepily, head finding its place on Kyuhyun’s shoulder.
“Anything for Minnie.”
