I'm buying Mom's Christmas presents again, because she just cannot shop online. She kept buying duplicates of things, or not buying things at all--like she'd put them in her cart and start the purchase but never actually complete it--and then getting mad when they never showed up. I'm on record as saying I think most skincare is a scam, and my normal routine is washing with a literal bar of soap in the morning, using the CVS Aveeno knockoff moisturizer, and taking my makeup off with cold cream at night. However, there's just something I like about mid-priced skincare products. Like, it feels indulgent in an affordable way. And it's not that I think most of it does nothing, I just don't think those results are anything but temporary. Like if I do a sheet mask before bed my skin will feel softer or look more glow-y, but that will have faded by the time I wake up.

I feel pretty much the same. I use Oil of Olay's face wash, and day and night moisturizers, but that's it. And I only started using face moisturizers after getting into my sixties. I didn't need it before that. But, as you say, feeling indulgent in an affordable way. 😊

Probably the most decadent thing I buy is Benefit Porefessional Primer (but that's for setting makeup, not skin care per se).

I'm totally the audience for that yacht rock documentary. My playlists are always full of '70s jams (music from when I was young and not jaded yet).

Full disclosure: when I'm feeling shitty, I put on "Sailing" by Christopher Cross and it makes me feel better every.single.time. I wish I had HBO, I would love the hell out of this doc.
