I think it would be a spectacular idea, but there are only about 5 of us left active on this community. And I'm no writer :(

I'm a writer!! As always I'm down for anything. However, I've never tried one of these before so I'd need my hand held while figuring out the rules.

I have been trying to reach out to tumblr where another sizeable portion of the fandom is, but my reach there is severly limited ( ... )

Absolutely up for it. Is there going to be some kind of particular theme, or is it going to be whatever we want? (I'd prefer to be an artist on this one, but if there's explicit stuff then I'd be happier writing).

I'm up for participating in a bang, but I'm not much of a writer so I'd only be participating as an artist, if that's still alright? ^_^;

As for my opinions, I have participated in two bangs before and I can give general information and comparisons if you like? I'm also up for helping with organisation if you need a helping hand.
Because this fandom is relatively small I think a lower word requirement (10k-15k words perhaps?) might be better over the course of 9-12 months. I was just talking with someone else about a Rogues big bang recently, so your post came as a blessing!

Oh, and the definition for artist in terms of bangs is broad, as it is not limited to drawing and also encompasses graphics, photo-manipulation etc.

yep, I stated that in a comment above when it came up.
I just simplified it for introductory purposes, no sense in giving out too many details and information before I know that people will be on board.

of course, perfectly alright!

Yes, I agree on the lower word count - the big bangs I see require around 50k, and I would definetely go for less.
But over the course of 9-12 months?
That's too long - I speak from experience, we lose steam over a long period of time. Just look the the Rogues calender, the Recoomendation Week and Cliche-thon...all were supposed to keep going for a longer time and none worked out.
I know that we need more than a month which is the usual max, but the better part of a year is just as unrealistic.

I'm definitely happy to participate in whatever we come up with. I'd prefer a lower word count though. I'd definitely only be writing, and I'm actually in the process of trying to get a professional writing career started without detracting from my fics, so I can't really do a novella length commitment (trying to write a novel, edit two novellas, and then all my unfinished fics). As far as timing goes, I think you're right about us losing steam if an event runs for too long. I think two to three months sounds good for a solid 15-20k word count, but again, I can work with whatever bounds you set.

Also, the next time I update on ff.net I'll plug the comm and the big bang. I've noticed that the comm's been quiet lately, but there's still fandom activity on ff.net, and I've got a fair few Rogues followers. Not sure how many of them are writers and artists themselves, but it never hurts to ask ;)

oh yes, for advertising! the more the merrier! thanks!

I'm thinkiong, too, that we should aim more for a mini bang of 10-15k;
thanks for the input - you think that three months for 10k is appropriate...kid had a schedule for 6 months which is well structured but i'm not sure if the ration fits. I was thinking about having a discussion during sign ups so people can just directly say what they can and cannot do.
