It's so lovely I just had to comment again. That last line...For six months after, what grew in the ground would stay asleep and silent, while in the realm below, the Trickster would play his lover to hear his name in sighs, six months a laughing god would know the softness of spring...is positively divine.
And just out of curiosity (because I have always loved Greek mythology), any thoughts on myths that might suit the rest of our merry band of Rogues?
Thank you! I was worried that I might have over-girlified Piper with "the softness of spring"! But I guess softness isn't always a woman's quality and vice versa (just look at Linda Park during the Terminal Velocity collection, something along the steely lines of "Wally isn't going to be the only one to go down/out in a blaze of glory"). Then there was Golden Glider. Piper is the softie with the soft-heart (and it's not the softness that makes him weak, that would be the low-sense of self-worth and something else entirely

Another way the Persephone myth fits Piper is that romantics have framed her abduction as an actual escape from her mother's custody. In those days, the outrage wasn't that "Hades had taken Persephone without Persephone's permission", it was "Hades had taken Persephone without parental's permission". Some bride-nappings were vile acts that violates consent, that sadly still carries on today, by men with little to offer, but some, especially in the Old Days, were actually done with the consent of the bride who wants to elope with someone she finds charming but had little to offer her parents.
Piper is the oldest child and the only son of the Rathaway, and he ran away from them into the Underworld life of criminals, so Persephone!
...and compared to her contemporaries, Persephone had the happier ending. Excepting Athena, unless she likes being alone and didn't chose it because from her viewpoint,t he alternative was Married To A Jerk. Aphrodite was married off to Hephaestus against her will, specifically because Hephaestus was

I just finally refind that really hot Hades and Persephone story I read a long while ago, I was thinking of this story when I was thinking of Trickster sitting in his throne, Piper writhing on his lap, skin still tasting of grass and dew..though my story turned out with a much lower rating than blackmoth/belmanoir's. If you don't mind het you should give her(?) story a read, it's very poetic too:
