If you saw the Ken Burns series on the Civil War in which several noted historians read letters exchanged between the soldiers and their loved ones at home, it is hard to fathom that these men mostly had only 3-6 years of formal education. They wrote more fluently than most college graduates I know including myself at times. I have found that as technology has allowed us the luxury of speedy efficiency we have become increasingly sloppy with what we think, what we write, and most tragic of all what we believe.
