need help

okay so i have to go to the torpedo factory on friday around noon (old town alexandria=king and union street) i know a lot of you are really familiar with the area and would love suggestions on the best way to get there. would there be a short cut? if you take the metro to king and walk down...just how far way is it? or do i suck it up and take

It's a very long walk from the metro, but apparently there are buses you can catch. Sadly, the best way to go would be 66/495/1 or you could try going 66/GW Parkway.

i hate going down there, ya know i hate driving and even hate 495 more. i think i will see what the forcast is for the day and if it is going to be nice ill metro in and walk, if not ill take the 66/495/1 way :)

Its not that far from the metro! Really! I walk it every day and minus the walk from my house to the metro, you'd be looking at about a 20 minute walk. If you walk slower, 30...parking in Old Town is a pain in the butt if you're looking for street parking so i would Metro it if you can.

If you are walking down King Street, there are Dash buses that run up and down it for free, that you can hop on. As long as the day isn't too humid, the walk is actually really nice.

about how many blocks is it from the metro down to union. i think i will take your advice and if it sucks catch a cab or the dash bus you are talking about.

ummm...lets see...off the top of my head i think its like 15 blocks.

I would give youself 30-40 minhutes to walk down so that you can walk slower and stop to get a coffee/soda/water if you need it. Fridays weather has a high of 84, low 70 but i generally find that the mornings in Old Town aren't that bad.
