I was hit by similar feelings upon watching the Doctor Who season finale last night - one looks back upon the journey with a certain sad nostalgia, and a fated one at that.
I didn't realise firefly was DELIBERATELY cast from Buffy and Angel super villans?
I get the feeling that Joss just kind fell in love with a few of the actors he had recruited for his serious villians in the last seasons. I mean, previous super villians were Spike and Angel - he liked them so much that Angel got his own show and Spike didn't get killed off after 4 episodes (as was the original plan) but stuck around for the whole thing. And good personality-rich super villians would make for great Firefly actors when the characters are pirates who kill people occasionally. Makes perfect sense! (And Eliza Dushku who played Faith is in another show now too, or something isn't she?)
It just goes to show, evil people are more fun. Or something.
It seems to be only the fortunate and worthwhile young 'uns under 21 who even GET what those shows are about - kids these days just aren't growing up with television that compares...
