When I was 11 my Grave's Disease kicked in and I grew around 8" very quickly, over about 3 months. That gave me scoliosis, screwing up my back and making the joints in my hips and knees crooked. My knees are so off the right angle that the cartilage has been pushed off to the side. So there's nothing cushioning the joint now, ten years later, and I have arthritis. I've got it so bad that it doesn't take much to make me limp or go stiff. My doctor told me that I could either lose around 50 pounds and try to stave off the inevitable by being slightly underweight or have knee injections.
Once you've had the injections, coming off them and going without them is next to impossible because it's so painful. They can cause things to deteriorate quicker and make you reliant on them.
