As I said, one of my new fics, "Assurance", has exactly one sentence, which is the shirebunnies starter line. The rest of it is in my head but hopefully it'll make it to the screen soon

Have you tried looking for Google caches of your stories? Or using the Wayback machine? You might find some of them that way.

Okay, I'll try that! Thank you. That's how I found Shirebound's first story, "Avalanche"; I was actually looking for information for one of my nieces on the real thing and came across her story. :-)

Good to have you back, feeling more whole! It's hard to lose something you put a lot of time into, but you truly can rebuild -- and very often what comes of that is indeed better. The neat thing is that the stories are still there in your head, and you can write them again if you want to.

I love seeing you talk about writing again. :-D

I love Sharpe, too, but I think he'd be a tricky one to do a fanfic about, for some reason.

Yes, he would be, especially because one requires a fairly complete knowledge of soldiering to be able to write him in a full setting. Plus, some authors don't like their creations written up in fanfiction- there's a list of them on FF.net.

My brother knows a lot about soldiering in the Napoleonic era -- he is also a fan of Sharpe, especially the uniforms. ;-)

I'm so glad to hear you have new stories in mind! But I will miss the old ones, and I hope you are able to rebuild, whether by rewriting them or retrieving them from places. If you need them, I have both 'Orc Sign' and 'Sam, Can I Try?' saved to my computer :)

I thought about writing Sharpe fanfic too, but I decided I don't know enough about soldiering to get into it. I started writing more Boromir-fic instead, but then my Boromir started talking in a Yorkshire accent and it all got quite confusing.
