Thanks. :-) I know the book says that he gave a party every year on the day during the 17-year interim, but I liked the idea of the close family coming the night before to have special time with him.

Ohhh, I love this! It makes me so happy to think of that bright, loving party going on inside Bag End, when it had felt so lonely just a little earlier.
