I have hit the dreaded "oh-no-how-do-I-write-the-sentiment-behind-the-pithy-quote-from-one-of-the-characters" block. What am I talking about, you ask? I'm writing my challenge 21 story, and one of the characters has just uttered the tag line that is the title of my story. I know none of you have WIP's on your hard drive that you weren't sure what to do with next, or wrote yourself into a corner, etc. ;-)

Don't you just hate it when those characters leave you hanging like that? Mine usually decide to start talking again just as I fall asleep, and I can't make myself wake up enough to go write it down. Then of course it's gone and I have to start from scratch.

Talk to yourself as much as you need to in order to get that challenge unchallenging!

Maybe keep a notepad by your bed and jot down the idea if you're awake enogh to guide a pencil; that way even if it isn't as fresh in the morning, you at least will have a good idea of what you wanted to write.

marigoldg has writing challenges once a month; she assigns a topic/character and you write a story around that topic or character. I haven't entered one for a while. It's not a contest, just a means of getting folks to write LOTR fic and encourage budding and experienced authors alike. we're up to Challenge 21 now. :-)
