Covers are super important, you classically trained musicians. Just think of songs you want to play and bring them in and play them until one or both of you gets bored of them. Let the writing just flooow, it'll come on its own. The important trick is to just bring in one song each time, and do whatever songs from last time were fun. Listen to music together.

And go with the ORGAN. Even a synth with a decent organ tone through a tube amp.

Just remember not to overkill with them. One or two new songs each time, and maybe some old favourites out of a song book or whatever. Play music, and LISTEN TO MUSIC TOGETHER. The TOGETHER is really the most important part. Favourite songs, new songs, stuff you've both heard before. And TALK about it. And keep a notepad and write down every idea you have, and every sentence that sounds the slightest of poetry.

And be prepared to throw away a lot of ideas! Because you're panning for the GOLD here baby!
