Yes, yes and oh yes!
Also someone else who loves Tyrion! he's my favorite next to (not after mind you) Arya. He's just so damned smart and funny and it's a wonder he survived at all with that family. I imagine either his mother loved him very much, or some kind maid raised him, because I think Tywin would have smothered him in the cradle otherwise.
I friend-ship Sam/Jon, only b/c I totally ship Jon/Rob's Blacksmith Bastard. I love Sam for pointing out so brilliantly that Jon is in a lovely position to learn how to be a leader. All too often the administrative roles get shoved to the side of YAY WARRIOR role. Being a good warrior doesn't mean you'll a good king, and being a good king does not mean you'll be a good warrior. It means you hire people to make war for you. Like poor, noble, stupid Ned. And awesome, stabby Arya.
Also Pyp: is it safe to assume the dude was bullshitting? Since he didn't sing when Sam asked him so nicely? I mean all his stories are so sweet and Aladdin like, which is just suspicious.

Thank you for the great review!

okay, I love onscreen lesbian action as much as the next queer female fan, but only when it's real. Real for the characters, that is. This was two whores performing lesbianism for the male brothel owner, and it felt really squicky. Which was possibly the point, and if HBO wasn't trying to titillate, then fine ... but somehow I doubt that.

I felt the whole scene was so much oriented at the male audience (and ratings) that it made me sick. As you pointed out, there were good bits missing, like Jon's conversation with Aemon! Why did we have to watch 5 minutes of this?

WHY do we have so much Theon??? Yeah, I know he's gonna be really important later, but surely he doesn't need this much screen time in Season 1. I wouldn't mind so much if (a) so many of his scenes weren't awkward and pointless, and (b) I didn't hate him so damn much. Go away, Theon.I always felt his character to be pointless (as well as hateful), but I guess the Ironborn storyline is very important (we get much more of them in the later ( ... )

"I will kill the men in iron suits!" Sucks to be them, but yeah, sure! Do it! Most of them are assholes anyway! Go Drogo! "I will rape their women and take their children as slaves!" Wooo-- ...wait.
*snerk* Paraphrased conversation with my mother...
Me: Did you watch Game of Thrones?
Mom: "I WILL RAPE THEIR WOMEN!" DDD:

What an Inspirational Speech mood-killer that was.

I feel the same about Dany/Drogo, those actors have such amazing chemistry but I just can't get around the whole Rapey Savage Klingon Man thing. :-/ I buy it a little *more* in the books, even with the implication of the nights after their wedding night, but their portrayal of all that in the show is just -- how is it sweet and gross at the same time?!

The Littlefinger brothel scene irritated me. Weird, gratuitous, and not even hot because of the fake factor. Seriously, do they think people will *doze off* on that exposition if they don't throw some boobies in the background?
