we'll try to stay blind to the hope and fear outside

Obligatory Game of Thrones content: I have SO MUCH to say about last week's episode, and yet there are no words. *flails* And the finale is TONIGHT!!! Eeeeeeeeeeee!!

But I am actually posting about something not related to GoT. I have a decision to make, and I'm not sure if I'm seeking advice or if I just need to verbalize my thoughts to help with ( Read more... )

I say try option 3 at least once before going for 4 or 5 because then you'll know you've tried everything. (You're already trying the catsitter option.) If traveling with them is awful, then you can move down the list. But it might solve things! And you can try it without feeling like a failure or giving up on the kitties.

This situation does suck and I'm so sorry it's causing all of you stress :-( *big hugs*

*hugs back!* Yeah, I'm leaning toward #3 ... it's just hard to know what to do, you know? Thanks for your input. :) Your logic makes sense!

I agree with Option #3, but if transporting the cats will be traumatic to them, then I vote Option #2.

Right, I *am* worried about transport and stuff. I think Precious should be okay with a 2.5 hour plane ride, and I hope Leia would be okay (barring concerns with her chronic congestion and stuff). And it'd only be one trip there and one trip back, so. (And it would also mean you could come visit without dying! Yay!)

I think Option 3. Moving the cats will be sucky, but it's a one-time thing and since you seem sure you'll be working in Plano for a while, it's best to have them with you as much as possible. A twice-per-week catsitter is massively better than a four-times-per-week catsitter. And plus, the benefits of cats are having them during the workweek when you can see them as part of your daily chill routine.

Good luck!

Thank you! I agree with your logic that being gone from them 2 days a week is better than being gone from them 4 days a week. And yeah, when I leave work and go back to the hotel, I really really miss having them around. :(

I don't know what you should do. All I know is that "Together, my cats can do ANYTHING!"

Option 3 sounds best to me. You get a lot of time with the cats, and you probably won't be leaving the area every weekend. $44 twice, maybe three times a month.

There might be an Option 6. I know that Southwest lets you take a cat in a carrier as your carry-on item for $75. I don't know about other airline policies, but they probably are similar. If your employer/client is willing to pick up the pet fee as part of your airfare home -- part of the "free ticket" they're supposed to give you -- then you can take Leia home with you, leave Precious in Plano over the weekend, and avoid the catsitter fees entirely.

Yeah, I agree with you that Option #3 is probably best.

I've thought about taking one or both of the cats with me every weekend? But it just seems like it'd be a LOT of stress on them. Cats are very territorial and like to stay in places they're familiar with, so I probably wouldn't want to take Leia back and forth every week. It's a good thought, though. I'd rather leave her in Plano and just hire somebody for a couple days a week to make sure she has stability. :)

Thanks for your input!
