You're thinking of when Syd Barrett was leading the band Mookie. His music was crazy and random, but when he left and Roger Waters took control, things were different. Atom Heart Mother was an amazing album that was Pink Floyd's first big hit after Syd left. Atom Heart Mother was a 23 minute song full of orchestrated genius, followed by 2 great songs (If and Summer of 68), followed by a decent song (Fat Old Sun) and the dreaded Alan's psychedelic Breakfast. Their next big, and by nig I mean HUGE hit was Dark Side of the Moon, and if that's not revolutionary music, I don't know what is. It changed the way people thought about music forever. Though none of their later Animals ever reached as much success as Dark Side of the moon did, the next 3 albums (Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall) were all inspirational in their own ways. Wish You Were Here had passion that no one had ever seen put into an album, and Animals and The Wall were both spectacular conceptual albums. Animals was based on a book (The name has slipped my mind
