I'm studying for LSATs in a coffee shop and am very, very annoyed with myself for not getting the logic games section as well as I need to. I'm feeling better though because I just heard a barrista bring a patron her drink and explain, "this is a 24 oz; it's just in an 18 oz cup." I think that part of that interaction can also be explained by the human need to appear socially acceptable. That part of him probably over-rode the other, more intelligent part. His first reaction probably would have been to say yes even if she had said 24oz in a 12oz cup, before possibly realizing a second after she had walked away that what she had said made no sense... a little to late for him to say something without feeling stupid (if he figured it out).
