I'm not sure whether I get irritated that people would rather put others' happiness before themselves, just because it's the "nice" thing to do, or that they won't try to accept, or even recognize, an idea that seems contradictory to what they normally believe. Obviously, it's good to make other people happy, or at least so they don't hate you, but I don't believe any relationship, friendly, romantic, or professional, can have a good establishment without the individual loving himself first and doing what is necessary for his happiness first. People get that confused with being neglectful towards everyone else's feelings, and I don't think that's the case. I think selfishness is simply being content with yourself before doing things to connect with and please others.

Oh! I've inspired a debate. I'm never sure what to do. Should I talk all about this whole silly topic, or should I just say, read Atlas Shrugged? I think I'll write something about my take on this. When I have time, since it's going to be long.
