Yeah, I had to get John and Dean doing mechanic stuff together. That was the first reason I thought of putting them together in the first place. I'm sure that will come up again.

I just had a chance to read chapters 4 and 5 and I loved them!

So John's already got a plan to turn Dean into a hunter. I wonder how that's going to go, since Dean is such a...soft kid. It's hard to picture him firing a rifle.

That was a nice scene with John helping Dean with his growing pains.

I'm really, really interested in finding out why Dean supposedly doesn't remember his mother's name - and if John truly is his father.

That's true. But in GG Dean is taken skeet shooting by his father. Not the same but similar. And he has a very strong need and willingness to please. So . . . we'll see. ; )

I loved the scene where John had the nightmares of people coming to take the boys away. In a world where one could possibly have your children sold into slavery, you would think this would be a fairly common nightmare for many people. But, the best part was the way the dream twists so that the commerce people are taking away both kids, and John is yelling that they can't both be the kid they are looking for. Poor Dean, It probably was pretty scary for a little guy to be taken away and branded. I liked the way you had John worrying over what happened to him, and how did it happen.

I'm so glad you liked the nightmare scene! I'm not positive from the whatwekeep FAQ if parents themselves can sell their children to get money to pay their debts, or, when a person gets too deep in debt, if Commerce just comes and takes the children, so, (since this can't be part of the AKB universe anyway) I decided both are possible. And I agree that it would be a very common nightmare for parents. I think John never worrieed about it before though because he accrues very little, if any, debt under his own name, and he has no permanet address. But now, looking at Dean, he has a whole new set of traumas for his nightmares! *LOL*

I just read all of these in a row and I'm enjoying it a lot, despite never having seen any of the shows it's based on. I kind of wish Dean could stay with Bobby, though, because John seems just a tiny bit... well, "crazed" is probably a good word. o_O That'll just make the story more interesting, though. [wry smile]

I'm really wondering what happened to Dean -- both recently, that got him sold, and when he was eight, that he either doesn't remember or refuses to discuss (even in the face of punishment) his earlier life. [ponder]

Thank you so very much! I'm so flattered that you're reading even though you've never seen SPN or GG! I'm so very happy you've found me, but I am so curious as to how? Since I'm not posting this anywhere else, I just wondered who or what pointed you here?

John IS a bit crazed, good pick up on his character there! Dean isn't going to be the happiest boy in the world about leaving Bobby either, but I have to do it to him. . . beacause I am evil. ;)

I promise what happened to Dean WILL come out eventually. I'm so glad that it has you wondering!

I was looking through whatwekeep and saw your note about the misunderstanding. I was curious and clicked on your journal on the off chance that the chapter was still there. Not only was it there, but there was more, and you have a wonderful habit of linking everything up, down and sideways so it's easy to read through. :D (I do that too, and wish everyone did.)

I SO wish every author linked chapters together as well! So many times I have had to search through a journal to see if there even are any further chapters and where on earth they are! I know I go a bit overboard with all the previous chapters at the top and the next chapter at the bottom as well as tags, but when I first started reading fic on LiveJournal I HATED it because I was so lost! Now I take a 'treat others as you would like to have been treated (like a slightly slow pre-schooler)' approach. *LOL

Poor Dean/DJ: I wish John and Bobby would do a bit of explaining!

And I would be fascinated to see how Dean and Sam learn about/meet DJ. Like Angiepen, I haven't been watching either SPN or GG, but I've looked up the pictures. Whoever cast SPN found some of the prettiest men on the planet!

Thanks so much! There will some explaining in the next chapter, which I am working on. But it's going slower than the previous chapters.

Sam and Dean will come into it, but not for a while.

Jared and Jensen ARE gorgeous! And if you ever tune in to GG or SPN, especially SPN, you'll see that they're talented too!
