Something That Must Be Done
Title: It's So Hard To Say Goodbye

A/N: For some reason this turned out a little bit more depressing than I wanted it to be. pirategoddess this is for you.
The only light Will had was the candle stick that sat at the corner of his desk. He was going to be leaving soon to find the Black Pearl and Jack to bring back to Davey Jones so he can set his father free. He looked over to the bed and saw how peaceful she slept. He considered waking her so he could talk to her but he knew that there was no chance that he would want to leave her as soon as she looked at him with those beautiful brown eyes of hers; the best thing that he could do in order to save his father’s life and make things right between him and Elizabeth was to write her a letter.
“Dear Ms. Swann,” He crumbled the paper up, it was too formal especially after everything that they have been through together. He took out another parchment, “Dearest Elizabeth,” again he crumbled the paper up, it sounded too childish. Another parchment came out, he dipped the quill in ink and started to write, allowing it to flow with ease, as if it had a mind of its own.
Elizabeth,
I am sorry for not being here with you but as you are aware of, I must go and free my father. He needs my help. Please believe me when I tell you that I would rather stay here with you but I know that you would want me to go. I have considered asking you to come with me but there was no way I am going to put you in any more danger than I have already.
I hope you believe me when I tell you that I had no intentions, whatsoever, of hurting you. I know I should have told you the truth from the very beginning knowing that you would completely understand and support me. But, I knew if I told you of my plans you would want to join me, but this is one thing that I feel that I must do on my own.
I don’t want you to worry but you must understand that there might be a good possibility that I might not return. If that does happen I want you to know and remember that you are and will always be my only true love. Elizabeth, my heart belongs to you. It always has.
I cannot say when I will be back but I do hope it will be soon. I am looking forward to returning to you and spending the rest of my life with you. I know it is unfair of me to ask that you wait for me Elizabeth but I do hope you do. Elizabeth, my love, I will be thinking of you where ever the waters carry me. I will miss you my love.

He folded the paper in half and placed it on the pillow next to her. He bent and kissed her one last time knowing that might be last time he will ever be able to kiss her again. He quietly turned and walked out the door.
