Raindrops on my face. A soft patter of cool liquid against my face. It makes my eyeballs twitch from the shock. The window is open.
I reach out into the darkness, groping for the edge. A slip and a slice, blinding pain shoots up my arm into my mind, I've cut my hand.
Why is it so dark? My eyes are open, or so I think. Clutching my hand with the other and sit up from where I lie.
A flash of lighting casts a brief glimpse on the chaos of what was once my bedroom. Now it appears as a warzone, broken glass on my bed next to me, the sheets messed with something but then the world is dark again. The pain keeps me here. Another flash, my window is smashed, no wonder I sliced my hand to ribbons. I swing my legs over, pushing up to get to my feet. It is a bad decision.
A dull throb in my head explodes into a hurricane of sensation. My room is spinning, swirling about me like bourbon circling the drain in the bathroom sink. My balance is not what I remember. I stumble over something, a suitcase probably. The bathroom is just over there. A flash of lightning doesn't help my vision swirls but at least I can grip the brass knob leading into the porcelain chamber beyond.
The door swings open, splashing me with water. The sink is overflowing, so it the bathtub. I fall to my knees, head and hand screaming at me as I flail about for the light switch.
A pop and a fizzle as one of the two lights burns out and explodes, showering a section of the watery floor with sparks. The other lamp flickers and clicks, unable to give me a steady source of light. I curse as I pull myself up to the overflowing sink, trying to look in the mirror...
