What I always did was use a microphone connected to the computer, it generally came out wonderful as long as I was in a quiet room and played directly towards the phone. There are multiple ways to go, my advice find out exactly what she wants to do with it, take that desire and tell the music store associate exactly what you're looking for. Then do your research on the product reccomended before buying it. There are millions of music related blogs on hundreds of websites, go into one of those chat areas and ask for advise, people of that affiliation are always thrilled to help out a new comer.

This is start on the possible future with a pickup. On acoustic guitar's they are almost always added later.

Now some sets require that you drill a small hole somewhere in the guitar. To place the 1/4 inch phono jack. Some set do not. Its all a matter of taste and ease of use. As some people do not want a hole in the guitar. Every touring act i've scene that has acoustic guitar's has a plug in them.

They make a pickup that goes over the "sound hole" of a guitar that has it's own cord. It's made by, I think, Martin and is specifically for acoustic only guitars. They also make combo guitars that are acoustic and electric.

I just know the strings + play them, too... I like my keyboard, though. delynfirebrand October 15 2008, 06:50:18 UTC
My sweetie's got a guitar that's halfway between an electric and an acoustic, and I think it plugs in to things... the sticker I can see inside the soundbox says "Ovation Celebrity". The soundbox area is deeper than his electric, but not quite as deep as my mom's acoustic.

He got it at a Guitar Center. I think they were pretty helpful, because he drove a hour to talk to them and pick out a guitar, and actually looks at the stuff he gets in the mail from them.

Hope that helps.
