I actually don't know why I do it. Like Randy says, I tend to just take stuff on without thinking about it. I want to help people, and maybe I also like playing the victim. Though I do also have to take care of a lot of academic stuff because, you know, it's due, and I'm working a lot at the WoodPEC to save up money for Europe.
I do not mean to criticize, but you're always very willing to put extra stuff on your 'plate'. If'n anyone ever asks you to do something, you're doing it before you even realize you've accepted it. This can be good, but it also can bone you.

Joking aside, take the time to decide what you want to do. Stick to that. Don't always take on the shifts, if they're going to bother you that way.
But if you're looking to balance life and work, don't worry so much about enjoying your youth; your interest in that balance shows more of an adult; work on enjoying your adulthood.
