Last year, I was not eligible for the stimulus check because I didn't make enough money and my parents filed me as a dependent. There is a new tax law this year that says if I did not receive a stimulus check last year, and 2008's income qualifies me, I may get the stimulus check this year. I'm not sure if switching from dependent to independent

The same thing happened to me last year, too.

Switching to independent isn't anything special. Your parents just don't claim you anymore. I made squat last year, and I got a check.
