Maybe some relief

I ended up getting x-rays of my sore knees today. Now we know why they are so sore, they are bone on bone. They won't even talk about surgery at this point and I understand why, I need to lose more weight. Instead, I agreed to get this "stuff" ( not cortisone)injected directly into the joint of each knee ( Read more... )

Sorka my dear, my aunt had this exact problem with her knees. The injections bought her the time she needed to lose some extra weight (although she didn't have the diabetes to make it harder) and she never looked back after her knee replacement. She was up and at 'em ridiculously fast, and I bet you will be too. Prayers winging your way!!!

I'm glad the cause of your knee pain has been identified and that the shots will hopefully help for a couple of years! Losing weight is a real bitch, isn't it? Oddly, we were out with a gang o' friends last weekend and several of them commented that I had lost weight, although as far as I'm aware, I haven't...Maybe my fatty parts are redistributing themselves or something {g}.

I keep hearing that " if people just quit drinking soda of any variety they would lose weight" well I did almost two years ago and while I feel better for it, I don't think it has helped me lose any weight

So yes, losing weight is a real bitch.

I don't believe any of those "just stop eating/ drinking x and you'll lose weight" claims - it's not a specific food or drink that's the problem, it's the amount of food plus the amount of exercise the person does plus the particular body type they are plus the endocrine system plus metabolism rates. Probably there are other factors too, that I can't think of right now.

But I do believe that eating less of everything and exercising more in any way you can (parking your car further from your destination so you have to walk more, for example) is a helpful method. It's very hard to change food habits, though, because food is so bound up in emotional and psychological ways in addition to physical needs. I try not to have junk food in the house at all, and since I don't go out a lot, I can avoid running into junk food outside - but ( ... )
