I'm not going to go on about the individual movie plots so there will be no spoilers in this report.

Really, all I wanted to say was GO SEE UP Pixar outdid themselves with UP. I thought WALL-E was the best they have done and then along comes UP and it just did me in on all sorts of levels. Kids will love it, its a visual delight but its so much ( Read more... )

I agree - the plot was the weak point of "Star Trek". It was a great movie, a FUN movie, but if I didn't have such prior affection for the characters and universe, I would have written it off as another 'big showy' SF movie with no substance to keep it memorable.

I thought the plot was strong enough in some points and quite weak in others and they depended on packing in the events to keep you from thinking about it too much.

Overall and despite plot holes the size of Nabraska and tossing some basic and important canon completely out the window, it was still so much better than Wolverine.

I think Karl Urban as Bones was the best bit of casting. I think he captured the original character, not in looks (which is just suggested), but in voice and intonation and attitude, best.

Oh, I thought the same thing, re: Our Billy. I liked the guy cast, but still.

The kid who played Spock RULED, and I was well-prepared to kvetch about it and pick him, in particular, apart. I could say NOTHING. <3

I do love Simon Pegg, though. Have you seen Hot Fuzz?

Ohhh wasn't he also in Shawn of the Dead? Yes, I did like him as Scotty, I was just thinking about Billy...but yeah, I think Simon got the part just right.

Simon Pegg is the bloke who played Scotty. I suggest you watch "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" if you liked him.

And Up was a fantastic movie...I loved it. But I don't like crying during movies...especially kids movies. I was like, " Wow...they put this in a kids movie?"

I suppose kids have to learn, but damn does that hurt the heart.

First off, UP is simply not a kids movie. Yeah, kids would go but the majority are just going to slide by the sad part which is really quite quick unless you think about it, which most adults could do.

Secondly, its okay for kids to have sad parts in fun movies too. Thats life. Its like eating sweet and sour. Who thought of putting those two flavors together but ohhh aren't they good? A little sad makes the fun sweeter too.
