If you were shopping at an Amtgard or Ren Faire type general shop, what would you want to see included in the stock?

Mugs & Goblets (ceramic, leather, pewter, and wood), bowls (noggins and other), plates/trenchers, eating utensils of various materials, knives.

Maybe capes as well. Things that anyone needs. I'd leave other cloths to specialists.

If at a camping event ... lanterns & oil or candles (depending on lantern). Cooking pots/pans would be handy too. Maybe spit setups.

If amtgard specific...

tape (clear & duct)
standard size sword covers
standard disk sheild covers
Noodle and cores if you can get them
Class sashes
spell strips
I'd leave off of the crappy knives and whatnots

All due respect to bodranplayer forgo lanterns and oil. Too hard to transport. You could have batteries and cheap flashlights depending on your site.

Cheap belt pouches with local or kingdom crests

That's my two cents

No offense taken.

She did mention Ren Faire ... and I've known a few Amtgard members that preferred the candle route.

I do Ren, so that's the main angle I came at this through. You came at it from the Amtgard side.

Somewhere in the middle is probably the best ground.

I would agree completely. What works for Faire or SCA isn't always the best course of action for Amtgard though. Lucky for Amber she's got friends on all sides!

hmm... mug straps, since they can be used as a sword holder, or a mug strap.
sashes
spell balls (says chris)
cloth patches, for when you tear a seam or rip the crotch out (which, can ruin an entire weekend) ... a long that line, needles, thread
ponchos (RAIN. HATE. RAIN.)
bowls of various materials and sizes...
ribbon (I don't really know why.. just... 'cause)
pouches. I <3 the pouches.
macrome

I don't know.. half the list is chris' list.

That base was covered from the start. :)
I wouldn't run a shop without mead in it. We might get thirsty, after all.
