So first of - I appologize for disappearing into the black hole of no communication for the last month. I've not written or talked on the phone other than brief calls to the folks for about a month now. That includes reading any journals. Hell, I've just started catching up on comics this week. I never feel bad about it until after it happens. When

I read an article in the Economist this past month by a British writer discussing the American housing market issues and their potential affect on the world economy. At one point, he criticized the administration for "fetishizing" home ownership as more and more people were being convinced to take out bigger loans than they could afford to get that particular piece of the American Dream. In conversations with others, I've discussed the pros and cons of apartment/townhouse/condo living and some of us realized that, while "owning a home" was definitely something that had been impressed on us our whole lives as one of the Ultimate Goals (along with marriage, kids, etc.), we didn't really need to take up that much space on the planet. Of course, we're not married/looking to have kids any time soon, so that conclusion makes a little more sense than if you're two potentially starting a family down the line
