Kombucha?

I heard a rumor (and at this point it is only that) claiming that Kombucha does a billion healthy things and would possibly regulate my tummy issues. I did a quick google search (and yes, I am going to ask my doctor) but it doesn't seem to affect diabetes adversely. I know some of you swear by the stuff but can you tell me why? Well Wikipedia claims it has Vitamin B in it, and it's tea based, so it probably has some caffeine. If you're feeling low, it's probably a mild stimulant. So there's that, at least.

I tended my own kombucha for about 6 months and drank the tea regularly. Personally, no noticeable health benefits and it tastes awful. I know some people who love it, though.

I will caveat that some serious illnesses (and at least one death) have been reported from drinking contaminated kombucha. Being a fermented product it's extremely easy for the wrong organisms to start growing in the tea. So just be VERY sure about the source and don't drink it if it tastes off in any way.
