I'm glad Brett Favre lost his last game. He's an idiot. And so are the Jets. They gave up a franchise quarterback for one season with a washed up ex-superstar.

Spoken like a true Ravens fan. Favre was pretty good last year, but I have to agree with you, even if I am not sure that Chad Pennington is that super.

I don't think the Ravens playoff chances depended on the Jets. My dislike for Favre is the result of a personal transference. Around the same exact time Favre was pulling his "retirement" shenanigans, my partner got laid off. One of the other math teachers in her department had taken an early retirement package that the district offered to free up budget space. This teacher then managed to get himself a class to teach at the high school without giving up his pension (at the expense of younger teachers who had been pink-slipped). I will forever link this character with Favre. Vladimir Putin too. 2008 was the year of reluctant retiree.

I can totally understand your feelings. Variations on the theme were prevalent at the U of A. Like senior faculty always getting summer teaching because they kept adding to their menagerie, preventing younger, more poorly paid folks from securing much-needed income. I hate the whole will-he-won't-he discussion that Favre played into, also. Not as much as I hate Roger Clemens's endless comebacks, but I hated them nonetheless.
