So finding a job in this city seems to be damn near impossible! I'm starting to become really worried that I might never find one, and then what? I become one of those poor people I see every day begging for for change? I think I'd kill myself first

fraid i can't help you out with that at all - i would have NO idea where to start looking. but there Must be somewhere there that is the equivalent of the computer market that operates once a month in sydney at one of the universities. it's like any other market, with small stalls selling all kinds of stuff - but all computer related. mostly 2nd hand, but sometimes new/discontinued/cheap stuff.
IF you can find something like that you should be able to get something cheapish.
i presume this is the Mac with the magnetic attachment power cord? which is a bitch because it means u probably can't use any other kind of 16.5V, 3.65Amp charger. (electronics shops usually sell generic versions that are way cheaper than a brand name's replacement costs. some of them are switchable so u can adjust them to the power combo you need)
