300 was an incredible movie. I saw it once on Friday and once on Saturday. It's that good. I saw it twice in two days because it was that good. Last time I did that was with Frank Miller's last comic to move transition Sin City, which was actully not as amazing as 300 is. Go see 300. 300, 300, Three Hundred ( Read more... )

It was amazingly beautiful movie and I LOVED it.

The only thing I didn't like was all that stuff they did with the Queen's character. NON-CANON! NERD RAAAGE!
No but really. She wasn't supposed to be gentle or humble EVER, much less to give up her dignity like that. Argh.

I have to agree. 300 was fucking incredible. I'm a huge ancient greek history nerd and that movie made me impossibly happy. The best criticism that that I've heard is that "last time I checked, the Persians actually won the war of Thermopalyae, not the Greeks like they had in the movie." I hate when people ignore the value of a thing, be it artistic, historical whatever, and simply pick it apart so that it suits their own need for something to fight over and devalue. It's so frusterating. Sorry, you've hit a nerve; I saw this post and couldn't help but comment. :P

Hey no problem, that's what this stupid thing is here for, right?

I'd argue that though the Persians did win overall, the Spartans nonetheless did a horrendous amount of moral damage to Xerxes's forces. The fact that so few managed to hold off against so many for that amount of time is unbelievable.

Although they did have over a thousand Thesbian troops with them that didn't show up in the movie. Huh.
