The research is what gets the grades. Most kids going straight from school to university just do not have the ethos to do all the work, and thus the more mature student who has learned good habits is at a considerable advantage. You worked hard; you got the results. You should have the praise, too :D

Awesome and congrats on the good grades!

I know what you mean though. I graduated Summa Cum Laude for my last 2 undergrad degrees and people would ask me why I was driving myself. I never really knew except that once I realized my overall GPAs were so high, I decided I liked the feeling of success.

Sure, no one cared besides me (except the honor society, I guess) but it gave me such a feeling of satisfaction for having done it.

Having said that, I probably wouldn't strive for honors again. It nearly di d me in! ;)

Received a paper back today from the political science class covering considerations in judicial review. I'm still skipping about. Not only did it earn an A+, but he commented, "Excellent work - above and beyond."
