For All the Wrong Reasons

For my final paper I'm trying to fit together a complex puzzle.  This entails taking pieces each from political science theory, history, and current events.  This exercise is more akin to constructing a 3-D object - without instructions or illustration - than fitting back together a jig-saw cut puzzle.

I only learned one thing well at university, in the course of two degrees.

And that was, that everything I ever learned well whilst I was there, I had taught myself.

Since leaving, I reckon I've learned quite a few things better than any university teaches them; because I finally came to understand how I really learn.

I reckon the benefit of actually attending classes is that I'm more disciplined about learning. That, and I've refined my research skills to perfection. And, I guess, learning to go about this methodically has its merits, as well.

What I'm really waiting for it to be turned loose so there will finally be time to sink my teeth into some interesting stuff... plague, virus history, terrorism, etc. (A little strange, yes, but the subjects of passion.) Then back to school to acquire a the skills needed to begin a profession. It's really about the love of learning.
