I have tendonitis in my right elbow, that makes me have to wear a support brace when at work, and it is very painful - but a muscle torn from the bone must be excruciatingly painful!
In both your and my current lines of work, extensive use of our arms is a must - to be able to do so pain free would be wonderful ...
I hope the AJC doesn't make you go through pt first, as that could exacerbate the situation, rather than ameliorate it. If they try, just say NO!

The doctor chalked it up to acute tendonitis when he released me. But since the pain has yet to abate with full rest - since August - and the muscle now visibly sliding down the arm, the diagnosis has to be wrong.
You are absolutely correct, PT could do more harm than good without a better assessment. I think once the diagnostics are ran, the doc will do the right thing.
I just got confirmation today from work that all I need to do is schedule another appointment with the good doctor to reopen the case. I feared they would fight it, but happily was incorrect.
