I was rather interested in the answers to my latest post about conventions. Somehow, I had always thought that one of the reasons we were in fandom was exactly the fact that it is a slightly "underground" hobby, pursued mostly in solitude, rarely spoken of in the "real world". I did try the Draco trilogy, I had no idea who CC was at the time, but everyone said I must read it but I was so bored by the end of chapter 4 I couldn't continue, I'm afraid. And I wonder that I must have been on the wrong end of fandom (although it was a nice wrong end, if so) because I didn't even hear about her plagurism until today!!

I wish there was more conventions though, writerly specific, not just Potter-ites thingies.

Yeah, I tried to re-read the Draco Trilogy a few years back, but the beginning was so bad that I gave up ;) I was just too young and naive to see that when I first entered fandom. But I stayed with it - sentimental value and all that. And I do like CC, even though I don't know her personally at all. I really like seeing authors grow through fanfiction and eventually emerge as "proper" writers - present company included :)

I think I might enjoy a writer convention, but fandom ones scare the crap out of me :D
