we just saw 'blue velvet' (one of those films i had not seen in years) and minutes into it i'm getting all philosophical but keeping it in my head as i know how i can sometimes be quite 'distracting' in that european existentialist way ( Read more... )

Detective Williams, Frank is coming in the well-dressed man disguise!

I'm going along with your theories on the wig and the daylight. Don't know about your mystery artist, though - I thought for a second you meant Norman Rockwell, but obviously not.
My brother saw Blue Velvet with a boisterous audience at a cinema in Cardiff. The guy in front of him exclaimed at the end, "That's not a real robin! That's bloody rubbish, man!"

i annoyingly can't remember who the guy was, will go & google norman rockwell as im not terribly good with names, could well be for all i know...

the above weren't 'theories' as such, more gut feelings and gut thoughts i was having while we were watching... my boyfriend later raised the question of whether sex is intimacy (this is something i simply assume, i tend to say how sex is the most intimate you can be with another person, a joyful, tender abandonment - which cannot be the same for every single person on this planet, and this then raises more questions...)

it was quite good watching it again though, after many many years... it's going to be interesting seeing twin peaks again too, especially as im now a fully fledged european philosopher when it comes to films :)
