We managed to pull off the very first Southwark Freecycle event, people had donated some 180kgs of things (including a zimmerframe, two barstools, loads of clothes, books, videos, bits and bobs for the house) and at the end of the day all we had left was 47kgs - I'm more than chuffed with this as god knows I'd been panicking and worrying etc

also, so many people are so keen to have those things on a regular basis, too, so things are really looking up.
the drama of the very strange southwark freecycle moderator woman continues however. she, rather than the members, 'owns' southwark freecycle and she's on some totally inappropriate power trip which is really sad, as the event yesterday (or any other event for that matter) was a product of a collective effort and certainly was not about any one person involved in it. :S i don't know

when i first started thinking about this, i was really totally happy to call it whatever really, swapshop, bring & take, it really didn't matter, as it's the idea that counts & it's the idea the people appreciate.
you would think that 'grassroots' is one of those pretty unambiguous words but it seems not. :)
i'm really totally cool about this, though, as the london freecycle group are totally supportive and we'll work out a way around it.
