America isn't and has never been free. It isn't and has only rarely been benevolent toward the world. If you need to lie to yourself, to pretend this is all new, go ahead. But AMERICA is a country that supported terrorists as long as they attacked Communists or other far-left groups. This is a country that has forced unfair and ineffective economic changes on poor countries. This is a country in which until very recently being black or gay was enough to warrant being killed. This is a country that used chemical weapons on Vietnamese, even while their own soldiers were in the area. This is a country that sat idly by while nearly an entire people were exterminated in Rwanda
