Stealing from JJPOR and lost_spook because I can!

Ask me a question about one of my fics. It can be absolutely anything in any project and I will answer it the best I can -- even on current progress/plans.

If you'd prefer, you can also ask about my writing for a particular fandom, my writing as a whole, etc.Keep in mind that my writing hasn't happened in a ( Read more... )

So, I know you haven't had much opportunity or mojo with the writing lately, but do you still have any plans? Even if it's only WIPs you still think about, lurking bunnies, or itches you haven't had the chance to scratch? (Do you still think there should be more Batman/Catwoman gratuitous petting? ;-p)

Ha, yes. I have plans all the time! I had like, 3 or 4 different bunnies lurking at me when my time went kaput (and then my ability to get into media went kaput and with it my mojo :( )

Also, I agree with Delphi. There should ALWAYS be more Batman/Catwoman gratuitous petting. I think at least one of the bunnies included that. ;)

Here's one: do you think that in fanfiction (given it's for fun and all) it's better to write about your favourite characters/fandoms/situations, or do you think it's better sometimes to challenge yourself by going outside your comfort zone? If the latter, do you have any examples of when you have done this?

I don't know if better is the right word for me, because they're both worthy! At least for myself, if I look at my favourite characters, they tend to be the main characters of the canon, so it's an exercise in taking everything into account, having a good basis for the character voice and motivation etc. Challenging yourself is always good though, keeps you on your toes ;) It's so easy to fall into patterns, isn't it? Like, that's one of the problems when I write my favourite characters - well, I definitely have a type of character that tends to become my favourite, and I'm aware of that, so even if I write about my favourite characters in different canons... there tend to be patterns there ( ... )
